Apu Huamán Lipa, Apu Pacha tusan, Apu Runtu Jkayan, Apu Machupicchu, Apu Putukusi,
Apu Viscachani.
Here in the Andes, we pay tribute to Mother Earth, the Pachamama, because she gives us life.
The Offering Ceremony is of ancient origins and takes place in August, when the soil is prepared
for planting. It can be performed for various reasons, for instance, to ask for abundant crops, for
good health, or for love.
We give to the Pachamama because she gives to us. Without asking for anything in return,
she provides air to breathe, water to quench our thirst, and food for us to eat.
Through the Offering Ceremony, we express our appreciation for her and her abundant gifts.
At the ceremony, we call on the Apus, the spirits of the sacred mountains:
Machupicchu, Waynapicchu, Viscachani, and Putukusi.
These Apus are guardians and protectors of us and of the Pachamama.
